Overview:

The Mozal project involved lining and sealing a reservoir to stop leaks and protect its concrete structure. The reservoir was losing water through cracks and porous concrete, risking both operational capacity and the integrity of the structure. The goal was to create a fully sealed, watertight lining that eliminated leakage and safeguarded the concrete against long-term water damage.

Approach:

We prepared the reservoir surfaces and repaired cracks and defects in the concrete before applying a specialised waterproof lining system. The lining was installed to provide continuous coverage across the reservoir’s base and walls, creating a durable, watertight barrier. Rigorous testing confirmed the integrity of the seal before the reservoir was returned to service.

Technical specifications:

  • Application: Reservoir base and walls

  • System: Specialised waterproof lining

  • Repair: Concrete crack and defect repair

  • Coverage: Continuous watertight barrier

  • Verification: Tested for leak integrity

Results:

The completed lining sealed the reservoir and dramatically reduced leakage, restoring its water-holding capacity. The concrete structure was protected against further water damage, and the tested, watertight barrier ensured reliable long-term performance.
